School Newsletter

During Sunday morning Masses at All Saints, the children are invited to attend Children’s Liturgy in the Justin King Centre. Children’s Liturgy is run by volunteers from the All Saints community under the expert guidance of Mrs Trisha Parker. Most volunteers are teachers from St John’s. At Children’s Liturgy, the children are invited to share God’s word through the reading and discussion of a Gospel reading. The children pray together and develop their understanding of God through a craft activity or activity sheet that relates to the readings and prayers from Mass. Some of the activities the children have completed include cellophane stain glass windows, kites and Holy Spirit flames. Children’s Liturgy is a great way for children to learning more about their faith while participating in fun activities.

Dear Parents & Friends of St John’s,

What a lovely time I have had since my return from leave, I am feeling really spoiled.  Firstly, I returned to a school running smoothly due to the hard work and dedication of our Leadership Team, supported by our staff.  The Leadership Mass in the first week along with the Year 10 Set Plans were a great success.  Last week we celebrated Catholic Education Week, ‘Many Voices.  One Spirit.’  The highlight as Bishop’s In-service Day where we hosted other schools in our area, provided morning tea and lunch, as well as listening to some very high-quality presentations. During the week many of our staff at St John’s were acknowledged for their service and contribution to Catholic Education.

Today is the Feast of St Mary MacKillop and I would like to acknowledge the importance of having our own Australian Saint.  Her contribution to education can never be underestimated.  Her tenacity and her ability to see God at work in everything makes her an impeccable role model for us all.  Take care, God bless and see you at our Race Day in a couple of weeks.
