P&F Constitution

The St John’s Parents and Friends (P&F) Association plays a vital role in supporting our school community. Through their dedication and fundraising efforts, the P&F has made significant contributions to initiatives such as sporting trips, uniforms, shade structures, the multi-purpose shed, the school minibus, and numerous other enhancements that benefit our students and school environment.

We are deeply grateful for the ongoing commitment and generosity of the P&F.

Due to updated requirements from Catholic School Parents Queensland (CSPQ), Catholic School Parents Australia (CSPA), and the Toowoomba Catholic Schools Office, the P&F constitution has been revised. We invite all members of our school community to review the draft of the updated constitution.

The revised constitution will be presented for approval at the upcoming P&F meeting on Wednesday, 15 October.

Admin Extension

We’re now just one month away from the completion of the administration building extension, with practical completion scheduled for 17 October and handover set for 30 October.

This project has presented challenges for staff, particularly with everyone spread across different areas and without a dedicated space to gather. I would like to thank the staff for their patience and resilience during this time.

While the new building may not directly impact students, it will significantly enhance the working environment for our staff. The improved office spaces, along with a modern kitchen and dining area, will improve the wellbeing of staff, a benefit that will ultimately flow through to our students.

Prep + Canteen Sneak Peek

We are deep in the planning stages of the next building project for St John’s.  The work done by VHD Studio on the design of the admin extension has been exceptional, and as a result, we have engaged them again to complete the detailed design of our new prep building and playground, and our new school canteen.  It is anticipated that both projects will be constructed in 2026, with an opening early in 2027.  During construction, the preppies will be allocated to classrooms in the primary school. Please note that the designs shown are not final but give a good indication of our building plans.

Cheers,

Mark

First Holy Communion – All Saints Catholic Church

Over the past several weeks, a group of our students have been preparing to receive their First Holy Communion at All Saints Catholic Church. This preparation culminated in the celebration of First Communion on Sunday, 7th September.

This sacred sacrament marks a significant step in their spiritual lives, as they receive the Eucharist for the first time and strengthen their relationship with God and the Church community. Guided by their teachers, parish leaders, and families, the students have spent time learning about the meaning of the Eucharist, the importance of prayer, and the values of love, forgiveness, and service.

We are incredibly proud of each student who took part in this significant rite of passage. Their dedication, reverence, and enthusiasm on the day were wonderful to see. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Father Anthony Arokciam for supporting the children throughout their preparation and warmly inviting them to participate during Mass. Thank you also to the St Vincent de Paul Society for giving the children a Mass book, which we are sure will be treasured.

May this First Communion mark the beginning of a lifelong journey of faith, love, and service for each of these young people.

Congratulations to the following students; Beau Nolan, Alexis Barden, Maggie Watson, Nate Sutton, Henry Eakin, Sapphire Schafer, Anna Saldanha, Zali Wehl and Rahni Ferguson.

Congratulations also to Haven Kavanagh and Charlotte Macdonald who will make their First Communion on Sunday 21st September.
